Network Implementation Engineer

New York

Purpose of the role:

Pico is currently seeking Design and Implementation engineering candidates to deliver best in class low latency connectivity solutions for Pico’s clients and internal infrastructure projects in line with Pico’s standards and strategic: framework. Playing a key role in working with other teams within the business, the role holder will be a proactive, solutions-oriented Engineer with highly developed organization and attention to detail skills. The role holder will also be responsible for working with our Service Operations (NOC) Team to ensure that all escalations are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, transferring knowledge and building skills among Service Operations Team.

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

  • Design, deployment, and escalated problem resolution, for a large service provider network infrastructure
  • Perform daily checkouts of the environment and following any changes
  • Construct valid configurations for implementation based upon design and/or technical concepts
  • Support deployment and maintenance of network switches, routers, firewalls, and other network appliances
  • Application of configuration changes via our change control systems and processes
  • Perform peer review of configurations scheduled for deployment
  • Perform network infrastructure changes in a diligent and professional manner
  • Participate an on-call rotation for support escalations
  • Troubleshoot internal and external customer issues related to changes
  • Participate in daily meetings to review changes and under lying impacts

  • 7-10 years’ experience deploying and supporting network equipment in a service provider environment or a large-scale Enterprise network
  • 5 years+ experience working on financial networks. Ideally including exchange market data connectivity.
  • Experience with Juniper, Arista, Fortinet and/or Cisco hardware and software
  • CCNP/JNCIP – CCIE certified or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Highly proficient in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, MPLS
  • Advanced understanding of Multicast Routing (IGMP, PIM, MSDP)
  • Expert level knowledge of TCP, UDP and upper layer protocols
  • Experience with cross-connectivity to high-speed, ultra-low latency financial markets and venues
  • Familiarity with Linux, Bash and/or Python

Purpose of the role

Pico is looking for an IT Service Desk Technician, ensuring issues related to hardware, software functionality, data analysis and system configuration. The candidate will be flexible, dynamic, solutions-oriented problem solver capable of working in a fast-paced demanding environment and expected to work pro-actively and deal with multiple daily requests ensuring that all issues raised are resolved in a timely service-oriented manner.

Project Manager

Purpose of the role

Pico is looking to fill a Project Manager (PM) role within our Global Delivery Management department. The Project Manager will work closely with clients and/or teams across the firm to assess and document requirements, construct high-level project plans, coordinate delivery and communicate status of various initiatives. The Project Manager will be expected to become a Subject Matter Expert on any project to which they are assigned, and will be the point of contact for status, timelines, and risk factors of their projects to all stakeholder.  The Project Manager will have a strong IT technical understanding and be able to effectively guide decisions, manage and resolve conflicting demands and time pressure constraints

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

  • Liaising on regular basis with clients and technical teams across the business and internationally to deliver highly business critical and complex solutions for global clients.
  • Liaise effectively with the Account Management and technical teams (SME’s) to clearly define project deliverables.
  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions with clients and/or Pico internal teams to document all requirements, assumptions, decisions, risks and actions
  • Lead the project(s) and make necessary decisions to effectively prioritize approved project work based on critical paths, tasks outstanding, key dependencies, obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources and deadlines paying attention to project constraints (scope, cost and resources).
  • Translate complicated concepts into clear documentation for a general audience
  • Create / maintain regular proactive communications (verbally and / or in writing) to ensure effective delivery, project risk mitigation and traceability with client’s key stakeholders and resources (including but not limited to):
    • Creating / maintaining and sharing Project plans
    • Progress calls / written communication with clients, internal teams responsible for various aspects of projects and members of the team responsible for delivery.
    • Project planning calls and written commination with Engineering teams (Network, Systems, Data Centre and Implementation)
  • Interface with technical teams to coordinate resourcing and produce detailed project plans
  • Effectively translate requirements into presentations and/or specification documents for use by Account Management and / or Senior Management.
  • Evaluate all key project deliverables, as well as final product, to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality and customer acceptance
  • Perform business analysis tasks such as current state assessments, product research, process flow mapping, software testing, vendor assessment, etc.
  • Able to appropriately set expectations to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Effectively navigate the organization to deliver each component of complex projects while holding internal resources accountable for their deliverables
  • Lead regular calls with the clients to update them of delivery progress

  • Highly driven, results oriented, no detail too small individual with a commitment to excellence
  • Ideally a graduate with a minimum of 5 years’ successful relevant experience
  • Experience working in the FinTech sector preferred
  • Basic understanding of managed infrastructure services
  • Financial market awareness including areas such as Exchange products and technologies, market participants and regulatory requirements.
  • Technology minded with foundation understanding of Hosting/Network/Systems/Software/IT Operations and their interoperation

Database Administrator Engineer

Purpose of the role

Pico is currently seeking candidates for a role as a Database Administrator. This is an internal facing position whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to database, monitoring, troubleshooting, problem resolution, for a large service provider network and server infrastructure. You’ll work with internal/external clients, operations/systems, financial exchanges and Systems Engineers and Developers to investigate and solve database related issues as well as working on databases for product requirements

Responsibilities and duties

  • Responsible for management of Pico and Pico managed Database systems
  • Expected to troubleshoot database issues and work with applications teams on performance troubleshooting and optimization
  • Maintenance, administration, troubleshooting, installation, and configuration of database systems.
  • Implement database monitoring system
  • Assist with the certification, upgrading and patching of all database products
  • Automation of operational tasks and training of Operators to manage L1 and L2 alerts
  • Automated custom report generation for proprietary systems

  • 2-3 years of experience working on MSSQL databases

Network Operations Engineer

Purpose of the role:

Network Operations is responsible for the stability of all network and datacenter infrastructure, investigating and resolving issues, and monitoring critical systems.  The purpose of this role is to provide the best support for our low latency network service, historical market data service, normalized market data service, and other engineered solutions for Pico’s clients and our internal infrastructure in line with Pico’s standards and strategic framework.

This is an internal and external customer facing role. The Engineer will be accountable for delivering quality service and support to our current and future client base. They will be a proactive, solutions-oriented Engineer with highly developed organization and attention to detail skills. They will also be responsible for carrying out changes to existing client services during change windows in line with the Company’s change processes and for conducting peer reviews to ensure quality of work at all times. The role holder will also work with our Network and Implementation Engineering teams to ensure that all incidents and escalations are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, continuing to learn and transferring knowledge This role is expected to participate in ongoing projects and maintenance activities this will include engineering efforts.  

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

  • Work with customers to assist with any issues or inquiries they may have.
  • Monitor Pico network and datacenter infrastructure using real-time data and alerting to provide continuous network uptime and optimal performance.
  • Ensure stability of all Pico Network Services
  • Troubleshoot and escalate outages and issues
  • Manage internal and external circuits, cross-connects, internet access, and VPNs.
  • Create necessary technical, and network/system documentation including diagrams, flowcharts and scheduled reporting.
  • Conduct system, network, and environmental checkouts and guarantee their delivery to necessary customers/clients.
  • Ensure corrective maintenance is identified from checkouts and other reports and input from field, authorizes work, work order created and scheduled, and quality report is submitted to clients when work has been completed
  • Identify opportunities within the environment to improve equipment monitoring, data integrity, and site security.
  • Develop broad knowledge and understanding of underlying network standards and protocols
  • Provide support service that ensure Pico’s infrastructure services are running to its optimum performance and that all departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met
  • Ensure that runbook procedures are kept up to date and are available for use by all members of the team
  • Use scripts and automation tools to support deployments
  • Open and resolve tickets as created or assigned
  • Conduct a root cause analysis and create RFOs and Incident reports.
  • Interface with vendors, market participants, and financial exchanges as needed to support maintenance activities or troubleshooting efforts
  • Abide by Change Control Process and Procedures
  • Perform peer review of planned changes prior to deployment
  • Perform network infrastructure changes in a diligent and professional manner
  • Perform installation of network hardware and software
  • Participate in daily meetings to review changes and underlying impacts

    • BGP and OSPF – including redistribution
    • Route Tagging, preferencing, and communities

  • Experience writing custom scripts in BASH or Python
