Overview

Pico is currently seeking candidates for a Sales Engineer position. A Pico Sales Engineer has a thorough understanding of all existing and in-development Pico products and services in addition to the competitive landscape; s/he must also have strong project management skills, attention to detail, outstanding oral / written communication skills, and will thrive within a fast-paced and, at times, demanding environment. This position will report to Pico’s Director of Sales Engineering and will interact directly with sophisticated microsecond sensitive trading firms in addition to internal sales, account management, product management, and development staff.

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all of Pico’s products and services including data center footprint, network, market data coverage, software solutions, and vendor partners
  • Collaborate with sales and account management teams as a technical expert to help qualify and ultimately win business
  • Work closely with clients and prospects to understand/interpret technology requirements and collaboratively design, recommend, and document individual technology solutions
  • Lead whiteboard sessions and actively participate in presentations
  • Provide feedback into the Product Management team to pass along requirements that will influence roadmaps and future design considerations
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry leading financial technology solution providers and the competitive landscape; be confident in recommending or referring to others
  • Interact with prospects from sys-admins on up to C-suite; build and maintain relationships
  • Craft detailed solution diagrams in Visio
  • Provide technical support for proof-of-concepts and implementations, identifying and resolving challenges and escalating as required
  • Work with both Systems and Network Engineering teams to design/engineer through non-standard elements of a given solution
  • Be able to solution sell to the bigger picture understanding the components of what is needed to satisfy requirements
  • Participate in thorough knowledge-share hand-offs of newly-won opportunities to account management and service delivery teams
  • Assist in pushing deals over the finish line by building trust and rapport with other technical stakeholders inside a client account.

  • In-depth knowledge of Financial Extranets, Server hardware, market data, low-latency trading infrastructure, and the financial technology landscape

Implementation Engineer

Purpose of the role:

Pico is currently seeking Design and Implementation engineering candidates to deliver best in class low latency connectivity solutions for Pico’s clients and internal infrastructure projects in line with Pico’s standards and strategic :framework. Playing a key role in working with other teams within the business, the role holder will be a proactive, solutions oriented Engineer with highly developed organization and attention to detail skills. The role holder will also be responsible for working with our Service Operations (NOC) Team to ensure that all escalations are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, transferring knowledge and building skills among Service Operations Team.

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

  • Design, deployment, and escalated problem resolution, for a large service provider network infrastructure
  • Perform daily checkouts of the environment and following any changes
  • Construct valid configurations for implementation based upon design and/or technical concepts
  • Support deployment and maintenance of network switches, routers, firewalls, and other network appliances
  • Application of configuration changes via our change control systems and processes
  • Perform peer review of configurations scheduled for deployment
  • Perform network infrastructure changes in a diligent and professional manner
  • Participate an on-call rotation for support escalations
  • Troubleshoot internal and external customer issues related to changes

  • Experience with Juniper, Arista, Fortinet and/or Cisco hardware and software
  • CCNP/JNCIP – CCIE certified or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Highly proficient in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, MPLS
  • Advanced understanding of Multicast Routing (IGMP, PIM, MSDP)
  • Expert level knowledge of TCP, UDP and upper layer protocols
  • Experience with cross-connectivity to high-speed, ultra-low latency financial markets and venues

Purpose of the role:

As Pico continues to grow we are looking to meet candidates who can help expand and strengthen our Network Engineering team. This is a customer facing role whose responsibilities include design, testing, and troubleshooting.  Applicable candidates should be:

  • Design network solutions relying on low latency, high availability, and scalability.
  • Design solutions leveraging low latency technologies such as, Layer 1-3 Ultra Low Latency Switches
  • Conduct industry standard functional and performance testing of vendor technologies, new codes releases, and security patches.
  • Create standards around products and services within the environment following engineering best practice and methodologies.
  • Construct and/or peer-review standard configurations based upon design and/or technical concepts
  • Work with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineers to design and build Pico products and applications
  • Design solutions adherent to Pico and industry security standards.

Purpose of the role:

The Service Operations Engineer will be responsible for the smooth running and stability of Pico’s client and internal systems infrastructure, investigating and resolving issues as they arise while thinking of ways to reduce common problems and monitoring critical systems.  This is a customer facing role, with the individual responsible for delivering quality service and support to our current and future client base.   • Provide support service that ensure Pico’s infrastructure services are running to its optimum performance and that all departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met
  • Ensure stability of all Pico System Services
